Taiwan Mobile announced August 2020 unaudited consolidated revenue of NT$10.66bn, operating income of NT$1.33bn, net income of NT$0.94bn, and EPS of NT$0.33. For the first eight months of the year, TWM reported cumulative unaudited consolidated revenue of NT$84.24bn, operating income of NT$11.25bn, net income of NT$8.33bn, and EPS of NT$2.96.

Rosie Yu, Chief Financial Officer and Spokesperson, commented that August consolidated revenue grew by 5% YoY, underpinned by the sustained solid performance in our e-commerce business, whose revenue shot up by 34% YoY in the month. As for the telecom business, 5G sign-ups rose by 20% MoM, with over 80% of these users opting for NT$999 and above rate plans. With more 5G handsets and TWM’s own 5G+ applications being introduced to the market, such as our partnership with NVIDIA in launching the cloud gaming platform “GeForce NOW powered by Taiwan Mobile” this month, we believe our 5G sign-ups are poised to gain further momentum. Game publishing and direct carrier billing revenues also saw healthy momentum, while further adds in IoT subscribers were driven by smart meter and street lighting related demand.

For the first eight months of 2020, cumulative consolidated operating income declined YoY, as a result of higher spectrum amortization post 5G service launch in July. That said, operating income of all major businesses achieved management expectations and cumulative consolidated net income reached 75% of Company’s FY20 guidance.
