Dedicated Department
The Social Responsibility Department was established under the Public Relations and Brand Management Division in 2007. In 2019, the Public Relations and Brand Management Division was renamed as the Sustainability and Brand Development Division, and the Social Responsibility Department was renamed as the Sustainability Development Department. The department serves as the executive secretary to the ESG Steering Committee with dedicated staff as well as independent budget, responsible for integrating inter-departmental ESG tasks in addition to planning and carrying out ESG strategies and projects.
ESG Steering Committee
The CSR Committee was officially formed under the Board of Directors in 2014. The Committee was formally renamed the ESG Steering Committee in March 2021. Taiwan Mobile establish the board-level “ESG Steering Committee" , approved by the board of directors in May 2022. The committee is composed of the chairman and all five independent directors. Its operation follow with the "Organizational Regulations of the ESG Steering Committee ".
  • Frequency of meetings: Semi-annually
  • Responsibilities: To supervises the existing operating level Working Groups including ESG, Environmental, Innovation and Brand Development, and the Occupational Safety and Health Committee, so as to enhance the level and breadth of sustainable governance of the Company.

ESG Working Group
In response to the establishment of the "ESG Steering Committee" at the director level on May 6, 2022, the original CXO-level Committee was renamed the "ESG Working Group". The ESG Working Group is chaired by the chairman of the Board, and the President serves as the Deputy Chairman.
  • Frequency of meetings: At least one meeting per quarter in 2024. In response to the establishment of the ESG Steering Committee, it reports to the ESG Steering Committee every six months from May 2022.
  • Structure of Responsibilities: Senior managers from each business group serve as members of the Committee to identify risks and opportunities related to environmental, social, and governance issues. Sustainability strategies are formed by integrating operations with core resources, enhancing the levels of accountability, participation, and governance of the senior managers.
Mechanism for ESG Communications with Other Functional Committees
The Company has developed a comprehensive communication mechanism for sustainable development management. In addition to the ESG Steering Committee, In 2015, the "Risk Management Committee" was established under the Board of Directors. In 2020, the supervisory level of the "Information Communications and Personal Information Privacy Security Committee" was upgraded to the Board of Directors. The ESG Steering Committee communicates with the Board of Directors as required on issues related to business risks, social innovation, information security, etc., and jointly promotes the company's sustainable development.
