Harvard Business Review’s Traditional Chinese edition recently released its 2026 Taiwan Top 100 Business Leaders ranking, naming Taiwan Mobile Chairman Daniel Tsai to the list for the fourth consecutive edition and once again placing him first among Taiwan’s telecommunications leaders. AI-related industries dominated this year’s ranking, with technology executives accounting for 68% of the list, up five percentage points from the previous edition. The combined market capitalization of the 100 companies reached NT$98.99 trillion, more than double the level recorded two years ago, underscoring how AI is reshaping industry competition and the market’s assessment of corporate value.
“AI is driving profound disruption, and companies must move decisively to capture emerging growth opportunities,” Tsai said. “Taiwan Mobile is building on the strengths the telecommunications industry has developed over time, including a customer base of more than 10 million, AIDC computing capacity, a trusted network and data capabilities. We are turning these assets into new services for the AI era, creating value for customers, businesses and society while maximizing AI-driven growth for our shareholders.”
The Taiwan Top 100 Business Leaders ranking is published every two years. Starting with Taiwan’s 300 largest listed companies by market capitalization, the 2026 assessment identified 232 eligible business leaders and ranked them based on financial performance during their tenure and ESG ratings. Financial performance accounts for 85% of the score and ESG for 15%. Rather than focusing on a single year or short-term share-price movements, the methodology evaluates the long-term value each leader has created for the company and its shareholders throughout their tenure.
According to HBR’s 2026 assessment, under Tsai’s leadership Taiwan Mobile has generated NT$303.5 billion in market capitalization growth and a cumulative total shareholder return of 288%, while delivering average annual earnings per share of NT$4.50. The company also received the highest ESG rating of “Outstanding,” reflecting its long-term performance in corporate value creation, shareholder returns, profitability and sustainable governance.
In the first half of 2026, Taiwan Mobile reported consolidated revenue of NT$99.21 billion. Operating income rose 17% year over year to NT$12.05 billion, while net income increased 25% to NT$8.69 billion. Earnings per share reached NT$2.86, the highest among Taiwan’s three major telecommunications operators. These results reflect not only the steady performance of Taiwan Mobile’s core telecom business, but also the company’s execution of its AI-powered Telco+Tech strategy across three growth engines: Telco, Telco+ and Telco+Tech. This strategy is steadily increasing the contribution of enterprise services and new technology businesses to both revenue and earnings.
Taiwan Mobile has also embedded sustainability governance into its approach to long-term value creation. It was the first telecommunications operator in Taiwan to join RE100 and links 100% of executive variable compensation to ESG performance. The latest monitoring data from the Taiwan Mobile Blue Carbon Mangrove Restoration Plan show annual carbon sequestration of 102 metric tons per hectare, four to six times the level of terrestrial forests. From its transformation into an AI-powered telecom technology company and expansion into new businesses to its climate action, Taiwan Mobile continues to strengthen long-term competitiveness across growth, profitability and sustainability, creating enduring value for shareholders, customers and society.
