Following the release of the new iPhone on September 22, Taiwan Mobile’s unit sales of iPhone 15 series for the month was 20% higher than the previous generation. In addition, over 70% of iPhone 15 bundle signups opted for $1399 or higher rate plans. As a result, Taiwan Mobile’s mobile service revenue increased by 6.4% YoY in September and returned to early 2019 levels, while recording over NT$4.3bn for three consecutive months. As for profitability, bolstered by both telecom and e-commerce strengths, consolidated operating income rose by 9% YoY. 

 

Taiwan Mobile announced September 2023 unaudited consolidated revenue of NT$14.35bn, EBITDA of NT$2.83bn, operating income of NT$1.35bn, net income of NT$0.88bn, and EPS of NT$0.31. George Chang, Chief Financial Officer and Spokesperson commented that driven by the new iPhone launch and our unique bundles, OP Life, momobile, Double Play, and Disney+, 5G penetration rate grew steadily. Smartphone postpaid ARPU also rose for the 28th consecutive month, reaching 4.3% YoY, while our postpaid churn rate remained at a low level of 0.7%. Furthermore, our telecom service revenue showed steady growth with a 6% YoY uptick in September. For the first three quarters of 2023, TWM reported unaudited consolidated revenue of NT$129.75bn, a 7% YoY increase, EBITDA of NT$26.34bn, operating income of NT$13.07bn, a 4% YoY increase, net income of NT$8.69bn and EPS of NT$3.08.
