Institutional Investor, an international authoritative financial magazine, announced the results of its 2023 Asia Executive Team rankings on June 21. Taiwan Mobile ranked as the overall best telecommunications company in Asia (ex-Japan) and secured first place in six categories. Taiwan Mobile President Jamie Lin and Chief Financial Officer George Chang were named No.1 in “Best CEO” and "Best CFO", respectively. We also ranked first in the following four categories: “Best Investor Relations Program,” “Best Investor Relations Team,” “Best ESG,” and the new category “Best Company Board.” In Rest of Asia (ex-Japan/Mainland China) rankings, Taiwan Mobile was recognized as a “Most Honored Company” for the second consecutive year and clinched the “All-Star” status for the first time by topping all seven categories, becoming one of the two Taiwanese companies, and the only telecommunications provider in the country, to receive this honor. Institutional Investor has been regarded as a leading provider of proprietary benchmark research and rankings for the investment community globally. In the 13th year of its Asia Executive Team survey, over 6,474 buy-side and sell-side professionals participated in the evaluation of 1,608 listed companies and 2,504 professional managers across 18 sectors. It was the only Taiwanese telecommunications service provider to win the “Most Honored Company” award, while the first to fourth runners-up were operators from China. Taiwan Mobile won first place in all seven categories in the Rest of Asia (ex-Japan/Mainland China) rankings, bagging the “Best CEO" and “Best CFO" awards for the second consecutive year. Other categories include: "Best Investor Relations Program," "Best Investor Relations Team," "Best ESG" and "Best Company Board." We dominated the “Best Investor Relations Professional” category as well, with the top three winners being the Vice President of Finance, Operation Analysis & Investor Relations Shirley Chu, Director of Operation Analysis and Investor Relations Jennifer Lu, and Associate Manager of Investor Relations Jennifer Yuan. Taiwan Mobile was also named the “Most Honored Company” in the telecommunications sector again and achieved “All-Star” status for the first time, becoming the only telecommunications company and one of the two Taiwanese companies to receive this prestigious status.

“We feel extremely honored to receive recognition from Institutional Investor. Being ranked as the best telecommunications company in Asia (ex-Japan) is the result of the concerted efforts of all our coworkers,” Taiwan Mobile President Jamie Lin said. “We continued to execute our 5G+ strategy: Grit, Gift, and Group, and offer unique bundle packages – momobile, Double Play and Disney+ – to meet the needs of our customers. As a result, smartphone postpaid ARPU grew for the 24th consecutive month and postpaid churn rate reached a record low.”
Lin added that Taiwan Mobile will continue to deliver comprehensive solutions across the entire spectrum of telecommunications technology and work with stakeholders to realize the Company's vision while taking into account the interests of both shareholders and customers.
In an interview with Institutional Investor, Lin also shared his leadership insights and pointed out the importance of long-term strategic planning, which will not only provide a clear direction and plan of action for the team but will also lead to more efficient internal operations, boost team morale and foster a sense of unity among team members. In the interview, Lin also revealed his expectations for how blockchain will revolutionize the way we store and exchange value and the transformative impact its applications will bring.
For many years, Taiwan Mobile stayed close to its core value of corporate governance and sustainability. This is the ninth year it has been ranked among the top 5% in the “Corporate Governance Evaluation.” Taiwan Mobile was the first telecom operator in Taiwan to have more than half of the board composed of independent directors. We were also the first to elevate the “ESG Steering Committee” to the same level as its board of directors, enhancing the height and breadth of the Company's sustainable governance. At the same time, we were the earliest Taiwanese telecom to join RE100, an international renewable energy initiative organization, and commit to using 100% renewable energy by 2040. We are dedicated to achieving our target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and submitted a commitment to reach that target to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This year, Taiwan Mobile will broaden its focus on biodiversity and take the lead in influencing others to do their part to protect the Earth.
