Taiwan Mobile Recognized in Two Prestigious Sustainability Rankings

February 18,2019

Taiwan Mobile starts 2019 out strong with international acclaim for its sustainability performance. First, it is awarded Prime Status in the European-based ISS-oekom Corporate Rating, which makes it the only winner in Taiwan's telecoms industry. Secondly, it has been included for the third time in RobecoSAM’s Sustainability Yearbook, and receives Silver Class distinction for the 2nd consecutive year, outperforming its national telecoms peers. Taiwan Mobile takes its social responsibilities seriously and has been committed to being a forerunner in this area.

As Taiwan Mobile has retained its top position as the most profitable telecom in Taiwan for the 7th consecutive year, it also prides itself on being a benchmark enterprise for sustainability and shining in its CSR efforts. In the wake of reaching CSR Vision 2020 targets ahead of schedule by 2017, TWM launched the CSR Blueprint for 2030, "Zetta Connected 2030" aligning with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . Moreover, it joined the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) in 2016, working with and learning from international ICT companies to promote global sustainable development. In 2018, TWM further snatched the top spot in prestigious DJSI World for telecommunications by achieving full scores in 10 of the DJSI's 24 categories across the economic, social and environmental dimensions. Now the two accolades from two major international organizations show that TWM’s world-class sustainability agenda continues to be recognized.

ISS-oekom, a well-known and historic CSR rating company based in Europe, has a strong reputation among institutional investors and enterprises. Taiwan Mobile was invited to participate in the rating for the first time in 2018 and went through a two-month rigorous assessment process. TWM has been rated “Prime” by the ISS-oekom report certifying that its overall CSR performance meets the international standards and gets high marks on data protection, sustainability aspects of distributed hardware, and responsible access to products/services.

RobecoSAM conducts an annual rating of the sustainability performance among the global companies. A record 2,686 companies from 60 sectors around the world took part in the annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for 2018. Companies whose scores are above the threshold and within a range of 1% to 5% of the industry’s top performing company’s score receive the Silver Class distinction.
