Mr. Richard M. Tsai is Vice Chairman of Taiwan Mobile Co., Ltd. and he was Chairman of Taiwan Mobile Co., Ltd. during 2006 to 2016. Under his leadership, the company has capitalized on the trend toward digital convergence. Mr. Tsai leads the company to be a leading mobile service provider in Taiwan and become a role-model in the global ICT industry.

Mr. Tsai was born in Taipei in 1957. He received Bachelor of law from National Taiwan University in 1979 and Master of Business Administration from Stern School of New York University in 1981.

Mr. Tsai started his career at Bankers Trust New York Headquarters as a lending officer in Asia Group in 1981. He joined Fubon Financial in 1984. In the last 32 years, Mr. Tsai has managed different areas of financial services, including leasing, consumer finance, property & casualty insurance, and banking. He also founded Fubon Securities, Fubon Life Assurance and Fubon Securities Investment Trust. All are industry leaders in their respective fields.

Mr. Tsai is active in civic and cultural activities. Serving as Chairman of Taipei New Horizons Co., Ltd. in 2013, Mr. Tsai committed to promote Cultural and Creative Industry and audio-visual industry in Taiwan. He is also a Board Member of Taiwan Mobile Foundation and Taipei New Horizon Foundation, leads these foundations responding different needs in society and integrating the core corporate resources to serve society and give back to the public. He is also vice chairman of Taiwan Basketball Association and member of the International Advisory Board of New York Philharmonic.

In 2011, Mr. Tsai was granted “Asia Innovator of the Year Award” of the 10th CNBC ABLA to cite his achievement and was the sole awardee from Taiwan. In 2016, Mr. Tsai received the honor of “Taiwan Top 50 Best-Performing CEOs” presented by Harvard Business Review.
